Preparations are underway to create the First Bristol Festival of Cinematography to be held at the Watershed during Autumn 2015
The dates for the Encounters Festival are 14th to 20th September and the CInematography Festival will begin on 16th.

In partnership with the Watershed, UWE hopes to bring some of the headline names from the world of cinematography in a three day festival to Bristol
We intend showing:
- a series of screenings with specific theme - be it golden hour, science fiction, women in film, film noir etc
- screenings to be attended by cinematographers with an induction loop for those who wish to hear a real time commentary on how the film was shot
- lighting and camera workshops lead by world famous cinematographers and visiting professors with CMIR
- A Higher Dynamic Range lab with CMIR, BBC R&D, ASC, BKSTS, AMPASand BCS representation, plus Bristol Vision Institute personnel
a cinematographic prize as a recognition of the key cinematographic moment of 2014

Conference for 2016 around the impact of change in image capture
Academics will be invited to a parallel conference on the subject of a re-evaluation of the structure of Moving Image Training in the UK.
The Conference will run parallel to the Festival of Cinematography
Calls for papers and panels 1st May 2016
Deadline 1st July 2016
Selection by 1st August 2016
This will be a scaffolded conference (no parallel sessions). The object is to build over two days to a third day in the form of a morning plenary. with an afternoon action period which then feeds through into knowledge exchange activities for future initiatives
Day one will consider the history of the structure of the sector
Day two will consider issues and problems around the contemporary landscape and consider new televisual and new cinematic forms
Day three will be a morning plenary and then afternoon action period
We hope to attract :
a) academics and academic institutions (affiliate HEI's, film schools)
b) professionals and affiliate Professional institutions (i.e. BSC, BKSTS)
c) cultural professionals in the moving image sphere and affiliate cultural institutions (i.e. BFI, Creative England)

Parallel Experimental Moving Image Festival
We are currently in discussion with a significant Bristol Arts Institution to exhibit developmental experimental moving images during a similar period to the Festival of Cinematography.
