Side by Side LGBT Film Festival has been working across Russia (Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Tomsk, Perm, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Archangelsk) since 2007. It is one of the key actors in bringing about change and plays a pivotal role in breaking the silence on LGBT issues and stimulating dialogue and discussion within the public domain.

However, the last 24 months have seen an unprecedented onslaught against the LGBT movement in Russia. To contribute to the resistance to this crackdown, Side by Side has launched a fundraising campaign to maximise and extend the reach of accurate information on LGBT and LGBT rights in public space. Tonight’s films, chosen by Side by Side’s organisers, are a selection fiction and documentary shorts that do just that.
