Catherine Goldschmidt

Catherine Goldschmidt’s passion for crafting visual stories began when, as an undergraduate Film Studies major at Wesleyan University, she shot Academy Award nominee Benh Zeitlin’s award-winning short film Egg.  Since then, her S16mm debut feature film Northeast, directed by Gregory Kohn, was screened in the Tribeca Film Festival: On the Road and subsequently distributed by Tribeca Films.  In the documentary world, she has collaborated with filmmakers Amy Berg, Les Blank, and Morgan Neville; notably shooting additional photography on the Academy Award-winning feature documentary 20 Feet From Stardom.

More recently, Catherine lensed Nelly Ben Hayoun’s experimental documentary Disaster Playground, which had its World Premiere at the SXSW Film Festival 2015.  Her most recently released narrative feature, Wishin’ and Hopin’, set in the 1960s and based on the bestselling novella by Wally Lamb, features the diverse comedic talents of Molly Ringwald, Meat Loaf, and Conchata Ferrell, among others.  No Light and No Land Anywhere, Catherine’s 6th feature, directed by Amber Sealey and consulting produced by Miranda July, is currently in post-production and set for release next year.

Catherine holds an MFA in Cinematography from the American Film Institute Conservatory, and she is a member of the International Cinematographers Guild and BAFTA Crew.  She currently splits her time between London and Los Angeles.
