Practice as research bursaries
In 2014/2015 CMIR offered the following Practice as Research Bursaries to UWE staff. 4 x bursaries of up to £2500 for practice as research portfolios
These were won by Monika Oeschler, Kit Poulson, John Parry, David Neal and Liz Banks
In 2014/2016 CMIR offered another set of Bursaries which were taken up by Shawn Sobers, Judith Ashton, Alistair Oldham and Carol Stephens.
The 2014/2015 CMIR candidates were asked for a written proposal for practice as research portfolio required 2 sides of A4. Candidates were asked to Submit 2 x A4 sides with the following details:
a) research question
b) proposed artefact (moving image or sound based)
c) proposed exhibition (we are in discussion with RWA for exhibition during the Autumn Open but would prefer a second exhibition to accompany this)
e) audience evaluation strategy - please discuss with Dr Sarah Sparke at [email protected] prior to application
d) a written critical reflection with publication in Journal of Media Practice (we are in discussion with Journal of Media Practice about publishing articles) - to initially appear in CMIR blog
c) timeline for production
e) budget
These were given on a rolling deadline until 15th September, rolling decisions based upon applications.
Selection of successful bursaries through a panel consisting of Lynn Barlow, Prof Jon Dovey, Prof Andrew Spicer, Prof Chris-Meigh Andrews, Associate Professor Mandy Rose, Prof Terry Flaxton
These projects were mentored by Professor Terry Flaxton and Professor Jon Dovey
