Here are the original details of the scheme:
The Royal West of England Academy and the Centre for Moving Image Research of the University of the West of England are offering artists of the South West three bursaries of £1000 for the creation of works of moving image art. It is intended that the three works should be completed over the summer of 2014 and exhibited continuously in parallel to the Autumn Open in the Fedden Room at the RWA with other works created from similar bursaries. All works will also be shown on the CMIR website after the RWA exhibition.
The applications required the following on a word doc or pdf of no more than 2 A4 pages minimum type size 10 point:
a) description of proposed artwork included intended duration
b) timeline for production
c) example of previous work (utube or vimeo address)
Method of delivery was on on data DVD consisting of a Pro-Res 422 Quicktime File with stereo soundtrack – CMIR provided technical support at all stages of production.
We were keen that there was a 'research element' to the work and successful artists were put in contact with researchers from UWE to document the process of creation of the artwork with the artist and reflected on the creation of the work through to exhibition and audience response.
Rolling decisions were made by Janette Kerr PRWA, Stephen Jacobson RWA, Terry Flaxton RWA and Chris Meigh Andrews.
We also offered the CMIR bursary of £1000 for the best Moving Image submission to the Autumn Open which was shown continuously during the Open in Autumn 2014.
The winner of the 2014 CMIR/RWA bursary prize was Jonathan Farr, who received £1,000 to develop a piece of moving image work. This was shown at the RWA during their 2015 Autumn Open Exhibition.
