Jack Hayter is a young, aspiring cinematographer who has been working closely with the CMIR over the past to practice and develop his skills in camera, lighting and professional workflow. During his studies at the University of the West of England Jack specialised in cinematography and quickly became a known figure on the filmmaking course. His aptitude for the craft led to an opportunity to work as a camera trainee on Bait, an international feature film shot by CMIR associate professor Geoff Boyle FBKS in 2014. This led on to more work on TV Commercials with Geoff and his first assistant Gregg Smith. Since then Jack has documented the CML camera tests at the CMIR and been heavily involved in the Bristol International Festival of Cinematography, using his skills in camera, editing and graphic design to create a number of promotional materials for the festival.
Jack currently works as a camera assistant/ DIT on commercials and drama along with his own freelance work shooting music videos and promotional materials for musicians in the South West. His involvement with the CMIR will allow him to develop his research of cinematography and facilitate practice of the craft on future projects.
