Susan is a TV producer and writer with over 20 years experience of working in the industry. She has worked primarily for the BBC but also for big international co-producers such as Discovery, National Geographic, Animal Planet and independent film companies in Australia. Susan started her television career as a researcher at the BBC Natural History Unit in Bristol and she worked with the BBC NHU, BBC Science and BBC Factual for over 15 years, from 1997 as a BBC staff producer.
Susan has produced, directed or written over 80 hours of network television and has worked on a diverse range of programmes from drama doc and observational doc, live outside broadcasts, short films, children’s, magazine shows and studio-based light entertainment. Her work has always been for major broadcasters and she has worked on many BBC landmark series such as Human Planet, Natural World, Supernatural and Wildlife on One. She specialises in natural history, science & the environment, arts, travel and adventure programming and has worked in many difficult and remote locations around the world. She has extensive experience of filming macro, long lens, cineflex and underwater. Between 2006 and 2008, she ran her own small business in Sydney where she was commissioned by feature film and TV companies to develop, pitch and write, scripts, series, new formats and other projects for international sales.

Susan has written two children’s science/environmental books for BBC books and Belitha Press. A book on childcare, which she co authored, was commissioned as a result of a successful TV series she wrote for Discovery Health and was published by Vermilion/Random House in Spring 2011. She regularly writes commentary scripts for the BBC and other broadcasters.
Academic Qualifications and Research
Susan has a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Zoology and a Master of Science from University College, London. She also has a Master of Arts in Creative Writing from Bath Spa University. Alongside her television work, Susan has spent the last five years working on her Phd on script writing.
