PAST EVENTS - The films of Ben SMithard BSC

June 2014 Cinematographer Ben Smithard was in conversation at the Bargehouse in London with supporting clips with Prof Terry Flaxton  about his latest film Belle (2013) and other films: Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa (2013), My Week with Marilyn ( 2011), The Damned United (2009) and next years release of the Best Marigold Hotel 2 (2015).  He has also worked on commercials and television (The Trip 2010) and will in this discussion outline his creative influences and speak about how he established a career in the British film industry.   This talk was part of a FREE series of events held during the London degree show for The University of the West of England, Bristol of its Filmmaking and Creative Media, Photography, Animation courses at the Bargehouse, South Bank, London SE1 9PH 19th – 22nd June 2014.

Ben also took part in the Look, From Capture to Display - Digital Cinema Aesthetics and Workflows was a one-day symposium that discussed the effect of digital technology on cinema production. The symposium featured a number of speakers of varying disciplines, including academics (Professors Duncan Petrie & Sean Cubbit) and industry professionals (Roberto Schaefer ASC and Geoff Boyle FKBS).
